«In Mihuț e mort the changes that time can gradually bring to one life and to an entire community are documented in a Romanian village community: Years ago the inhabitants were forced to abandon their homes in order to make way for a lake. One inhabitant rebelled and lost his life in the process. The villagers now retrace their neighbor's life, remembering his character, their relationship to him and the life they once led. Based on the collective memories of a village, a picture of their shared past slowly emerges, which as a whole may never have existed in this way. Yet all remember the man vividly whose rebellion unites them all.»
