.mpeg presents:

disarming
Emanuel Gollob, 2023, 27 min.

The video disarming is a performative exploration of detached robot arms, artificial environments, and human observers, as well as a search for potential future roles of robotics and AI in our society. The work playfully explores the ambiguity of disarming as a process of both physical detachment and emotional attachment.

In a fictitious post-anthropocentric world, a robotic limb, somehow detached from a human-constructed technological body, tries to discover ways of advancing movements even though it initially wasn’t made to move at all. Vulnerable yet determined, the artificial organism journeys through a process of motoric learning and unlearning.

In the window of the moving picture experimental garage .mpeg, FILZ regularly presents video art. Located on Lützner Straße 39 in Leipzig, .mpeg operates daily after sunset.
