The very first Radical Film Network Meeting was organized by the filmmakers and artists Julia Lazarus and Ursula Böckler in cooperation with the Harun Farocki Institute. The event took place from May 2nd to 5th, 2019 at silent green Kulturquartier in Berlin. The aim of the meeting was to create an exchange between members of the Radical Film Network - a network mainly consisting of film critics and theoreticians, filmmakers and activists, founded in Britain back in 2013 - and Berlin's film and cultural practitioners.
Within the tradition of the network, an open call was published at the beginning of 2019, inviting people to contribute their individual positions to the questions «What is radical film?» and «What can radical film be?». FILZ participated with a "short lecture" of 6:40 minutes. Together we produced a video of 5:30 minutes exploring these questions as a contribution to the discussion - and at the same time, our first exercise in collectively producing a work piece!
