The film ventures into zones where the forest’s inhabitants—at times even feral pets—organize their survival. It traces the connections between the familiar and the strange, the domestic and the untamed, the hidden and the uncanny. On the soundtrack, near and distant spaces emerge—including ones we cannot see. And the camera peers into a parallel world, opaque to the human eye.
Using a recording method derived from military technology, the film sets its image traps at eye level with these other beings. Proximity, chance, and movement trigger the invisible infrared light. The human-technological gaze into the dark, romantic longing paired with enhanced military optics. The animal gaze in return—directed at no one. Above it all, the ink-black night sky and the white hole of the moon.
A hybrid of technologies, creatures, and the mysticism of night and forest.
